(4) 75 ferrosilicon is often used in the high-temperature smelting process of magnesium metal in the Pidgeon method of magnesium smelting. The magnesium in CaO. Ferrosilicon is a kind of ferroalloy that is composed produced by reduction of silica or sand with coke in the presence of iron. Typical sources of iron are scrap iron or milscale.
